A former driver identified as Ayomide Oluwadamilare has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for the murder of his former employer, Mr. Kola Adun, a resident of River Valley Estate, Ojodu Berger.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, the suspect was apprehended while attempting to sell the deceased’s Toyota Camry vehicle, which he allegedly stole after stabbing him to death in his home.

The body of the victim was discovered in a decomposing state on Sunday, July 7, 2025, following a distress call from concerned residents of the Mubarak area in Akute who reported a foul stench from the house. Officers from the Ojodu Abiodun Division forced entry into the residence on Ogunmoyero Street, River Valley Estate, and found the lifeless body of Mr. Adun with visible stab wounds. Bloodstains were also found at the scene, and the victim’s vehicle, with registration number AAA 193 GC, was missing.

Preliminary findings revealed that suspicion was first raised when a friend of the deceased went to pick him for church on Sunday morning but met the gate locked from the outside. With repeated calls to Mr. Adun going unanswered and later switched off, the friend alerted the family and lodged a complaint at the police station.

The police said the suspect, aged 25, had unlawfully gained access to the victim’s residence on Saturday, July 5, 2025, where he stabbed him and fled with his car. However, his attempt to sell the vehicle to a dealer in Ijede, Ikorodu, turned out to be his undoing. The dealer, sensing something suspicious, contacted law enforcement officers who swiftly moved in and arrested the suspect at the point of transaction.

ā€œThe remains of the deceased have been evacuated to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, for autopsy,ā€ Odutola stated.

She added that the case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for thorough investigation and prosecution.
