The Senator representing Ogun West Senatorial District and Chairman, Senate Committee on Appropriations, Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, has appealed to his supporters to refrain from attacking other aspirants within the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State.

In a press statement personally signed by the senator on Monday, Adeola expressed concern over recent comments and opinions circulating on social media following declarations by some party members to contest the Ogun State governorship seat.

Adeola said although many of his supporters have been urging him to run, he has not issued any official statement regarding any aspirant’s ambition, nor has he responded to what he described as unprovoked media attacks on his person and political career.

“For the record, I have not made any official statement regarding any aspirant’s aspiration or responded to the unprovoked media attacks on my person and my political career of service to the people,” he stated, adding that he had not authorised any of his staff to reply to such comments on his behalf.

The lawmaker stressed that he is presently focused on delivering quality representation to his constituents in Ogun West and contributing to national development, noting that it is not in his character to demean or ridicule fellow party members for pursuing what he termed genuine aspirations.

He therefore appealed to his supporters, loyalists and well-wishers to desist from attacking the person or ideals of any aspirant in his defence, saying such conduct could create unnecessary tension within the party.

According to him, the appeal became necessary to ensure a rancour-free process as the party moves towards its primaries and the 2027 general elections. He reminded party members that they belong to one political family and must avoid bitterness in their engagements.

Adeola urged his supporters not to be distracted but to remain focused on the broader vision for Ogun State, while continuing to showcase the achievements of the state government under Dapo Abiodun and the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He maintained that the priority should be the continuity of reforms within the APC at both state and national levels, rather than engaging in internal disputes that could weaken the party’s chances in the forthcoming elections.
