The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation has rejoiced with the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, and the entire Egba people on the occasion of the 39th edition of the Lisabi Day Festival, describing the celebration as a symbol of unity, cultural pride, and communal progress.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Foundation’s President, Alhaji Asiwaju Dapo Wahab, on Friday, where the organisation lauded the significance of the annual festival and its role in bringing together sons and daughters of Egbaland across the world.

The Foundation noted that the Lisabi Day Festival remains a remarkable platform to honour the legacy of Lisabi Agbongbo Akala, while also strengthening bonds among Egba indigenes at home and in the diaspora.

Wahab, in the statement, said, “Lisabi Day is not just a celebration of our past, it is a reaffirmation of who we are as a people. It reflects our shared values of courage, unity, and resilience, which continue to guide our collective aspirations.”

While celebrating the cultural heritage of the Egba people, the Foundation stressed the need for a drug-free environment during the festivities, urging stakeholders to take advantage of the large gatherings to promote awareness against substance abuse.

“We must use this opportunity to speak strongly against drug abuse, especially among our youths. A festival of this magnitude should not only entertain but also educate and protect our people from the dangers of harmful substances,” Wahab stated.

The Foundation advocated a coordinated Drug-Free Festival Initiative, calling on traditional rulers, community leaders, security agencies, health organisations, and youth groups to collaborate in ensuring safe and responsible celebrations.

According to him, “We are advocating a drug-free festival where public sensitisation, counselling support, and effective monitoring will discourage the use of illicit drugs. This is how we can safeguard the future of our young people and preserve the dignity of our culture.”

Reaffirming its commitment, the Foundation pledged to continue partnering with relevant stakeholders to promote healthy communities and protect the wellbeing of the people.

“As a Foundation, we remain committed to championing initiatives that promote a drug-free society. The wellbeing of our people, particularly the younger generation, must remain a top priority,” Wahab added.

The Foundation also urged participants to uphold discipline and respect for tradition throughout the celebration, while praying for the continued good health, long life, and wisdom of the Alake, as well as peace and prosperity in Egbaland.
