The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a 41-year-old man, Lucky Isuma, following the death of a married woman in his residence located in the Sabon Gari area of Kano.
The deceased, identified simply as Sandra, was alleged to be the suspect’s lover.
The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna, disclosed this in a statement on Monday, noting that the suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigators.
Haruna explained that the incident occurred on April 11, 2026, when a report was lodged at the Sabon Gari Police Division by a resident, Chidera Nwobi, who discovered the woman lying unconscious in the suspect’s room.
“At about 10:30am, one Chidera Nwobi reported that he found a female adult, about 30 years old, lying unconscious and motionless on a bed inside the room of his neighbour,” he said.
Following the report, police detectives were immediately deployed to the scene, where the victim was examined. He added that no visible signs of violence were found on her body.
The victim was thereafter evacuated to the Muhammadu Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed her dead.
The police spokesperson added that the remains of the deceased may undergo an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
He further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department for a thorough and discreet investigation.
The command assured the public that all necessary steps would be taken to unravel the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death, adding that findings from the investigation would be made public.
