Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State on Tuesday inaugurated Murtala Sule Garo as the new Deputy Governor, charging him to promote unity and drive the state’s development agenda.
The swearing-in ceremony, held at the Government House in Kano, was witnessed by top government officials, political stakeholders and former governors, including Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and Ibrahim Shekarau.
Speaking after administering the oath of office, Yusuf said the appointment was aimed at strengthening governance and ensuring continuity in the administration’s programmes. He urged Garo to justify the confidence reposed in him by working in the interest of the people.
“I charge you to see this office as a call to service. You must work to unite our people and accelerate development across all sectors,” the governor said.
In his remarks, Garo pledged loyalty to the governor and the administration, assuring residents of his commitment to good governance, unity and policy continuity.
“I will work diligently with His Excellency to deliver on the mandate given to this administration and ensure that the people of Kano State enjoy the dividends of democracy,” he said.
Garo’s inauguration follows the resignation of Aminu Gwarzo, who stepped down in March amid political tensions and impeachment moves by the state assembly.
