The newly elected Chairman of the Youth Party in Ogun State, Mrs Olamide Okunowo, has declared that the party is fully prepared to contest and take over leadership positions in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Okunowo, emerged as the state chairman during the party congress held on Wednesday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, where members unanimously endorsed her to lead the party for the next three years.
Speaking during her acceptance speech, Okunowo said the Youth Party had come to stay in Ogun State, stressing that the platform remained committed to promoting visionary leadership and youth inclusion in governance.
She explained that the party was open to all residents, especially determined youths willing to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state.
According to her, “The Youth Party has come to stay in Ogun, and we are going to strive for excellence to ensure that we take over leadership positions in the state for the rightful and visionary youth.”
She added that her administration would focus on bridging gaps at the grassroots level and strengthening the party structure across the state.
Okunowo also urged members and residents of the state to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, describing the PVC as the most effective tool for electing credible leaders in 2027.
She said, “I encourage both members and non-members to get their PVCs because it remains the only veritable tool to vote for the right candidates during the 2027 elections.”
The party also disclosed that its Ward Congress held on Saturday, May 16, was witnessed by representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission.
Other officials elected during the congress include Mr Okunowo Olajide as Youth Leader, Soyemi Kehinde as Women Leader, Salako Oluwakemisola as Organising Secretary, Shomoye Olujoke as Treasurer, Obadeyi Samuel as Ogun Central Senatorial District Chairman, Olawoyin Jelili as Assistant Secretary, Ibrahim Muftau as Vice Chairman, and Adeniyi Oluwayemisi as General Secretary.
