The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old security guard, Abraham Aneka, over allegations of defilement, criminal intimidation and attempted robbery involving a 16-year-old girl in the Abule-Ijoko area of the state.

The command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, noting that detectives attached to the Agbado Division arrested the suspect following a swift intelligence-led operation which also led to the recovery of a single-barrel locally made firearm allegedly used to threaten the victim.

According to the police, the incident was reported at the Agbado Division in the early hours of June 10, 2026, by a family member of the victim, who alleged that the teenage girl was accosted by the suspect on her way home on the night of June 9.

The statement said the suspect, armed with a locally made single-barrel gun, allegedly threatened the victim before taking her to his residence at Abule-Ijoko.

Upon receiving the complaint, detectives immediately launched a coordinated operation which led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the firearm allegedly used during the incident.

The police added that the scene of the incident was visited as part of ongoing investigative procedures.

Preliminary investigation, according to the command, revealed that the suspect allegedly had unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor without her consent and also attempted to dispossess her of her belongings.

The victim was subsequently issued a medical form and taken to a hospital for examination and treatment.

The police further disclosed that the case had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation, while the suspect remains in custody pending the conclusion of investigation and prosecution.

The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, reiterated the command’s zero tolerance for sexual and gender-based violence, particularly offences involving minors.

Ojajuni assured residents that the command would ensure diligent prosecution of the case and justice in line with extant laws.

He also urged parents, guardians and members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report cases of abuse, violence and suspicious activities to the nearest police formation, assuring that all reports would be treated with urgency and professionalism.
