Leaders and stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State have reaffirmed their support for the party’s governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was made during a strategic consultative meeting convened by the senator in Abeokuta, according to a statement made available to journalists on Sunday.

The meeting brought together party leaders, elders, political stakeholders and members from Ijebu East as part of efforts to strengthen party unity, deepen grassroots mobilisation and promote inclusive participation within the APC.

Speaking at the meeting, Adeola said the gathering was organised to appreciate party members for their support following his emergence as the APC governorship candidate and to engage stakeholders on the need for reconciliation and collective commitment to the success of the party.

He stressed that politics thrives on relationships and interests, adding that no genuine member of the APC should be left behind.

According to him, “The APC must continue to operate as one united family where all leaders, members, groups and interests are recognised and carried along. We must work together to strengthen our structures and ensure victory for the party.”

Adeola also introduced his running mate, Mrs Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, to the stakeholders, describing her selection as a product of careful consideration of competence, experience and capacity.

He urged party leaders in the local government to resolve differences, strengthen ward structures and mobilise support for all APC candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The senator further reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the development of the local government and protecting the legitimate interests of party members.

He also called for support for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s senatorial ambition in Ogun East, saying the party must approach the coming elections with unity, discipline and determination.

“Our focus must be on ensuring victory for the APC at all levels. With unity and cooperation, we can achieve our collective goals and continue the progress of our party,” Adeola added.

Several party leaders who spoke at the meeting, including Chief J.O. Ogundeko, Chief Aloro, Baba Ariya, Hon. Kunle Onamusi and former Deputy Governor Prince Segun Adesegun, commended Adeola for convening the engagement.

They said the meeting provided a platform for frank discussions, reconciliation and renewed understanding among stakeholders.

The leaders expressed confidence that the APC in Ijebu East would emerge stronger and more united ahead of the elections.

They also pledged their loyalty to the party and assured Adeola of their readiness to work collectively towards delivering the local government for the APC in 2027.

The stakeholders further promised to deepen reconciliation efforts, strengthen grassroots structures and mobilise support across the wards.

In his closing remarks, Adeola thanked the leaders and members for their commitment, assuring them that he would continue to promote an inclusive political structure that respects party leaders, empowers members and gives all stakeholders a sense of belonging.

He maintained that Ijebu East remains a critical part of the APC’s electoral strategy and urged members to embrace unity, cooperation and collective responsibility as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
