The Abeokuta Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture ABEOCCIMA on Thursday marked its 50th anniversary with a change of guard as Pastor Ibrahim Olatunji Bada was inaugurated as President, pledging a reform-driven agenda to reposition the Chamber for greater economic impact.

The investiture, held in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, attracted government officials, business leaders and stakeholders across commerce, industry and agriculture sectors.

In his inaugural address, Bada expressed gratitude to God and appreciation to members for the confidence reposed in him.

“We give all glory and honour to Almighty God for this privilege to serve,” he said, adding that he was “deeply humbled by the confidence reposed in me and the opportunity to lead this great Chamber at such a crucial time in our economic journey.”

Describing his emergence as the beginning of a new chapter, he said the Chamber would pursue strategic reforms aimed at strengthening commerce, industry, mining and agriculture in Ogun State.

“Today marks the beginning of a new chapter for ABEOCCIMA,” he said, noting that “the story of commerce, industry, mining and agriculture in Abeokuta and Ogun State will take a new and exciting turn through strategic, innovative and transformative initiatives.”

Bada stressed the need for adaptability in a fast-changing global economy, warning that the Chamber must evolve to remain relevant.

“We live in a rapidly changing world where businesses must adapt, innovate and collaborate to remain competitive,” he said, adding that the Chamber “cannot afford to stand still.”

He outlined key priorities of his administration, including membership expansion, value-driven engagement, policy advocacy, digital transformation, strategic partnerships and development of key economic sectors.

On membership growth, he said the Chamber would expand its base while ensuring members derive tangible value from their affiliation.

“Membership of ABEOCCIMA must become a strategic investment rather than a mere affiliation,” he said, promising structured programmes and business support initiatives.

He also pledged stronger advocacy for policies that promote ease of doing business, infrastructure development and access to finance.

On innovation, Bada said technology would play a central role in repositioning the Chamber for efficiency and relevance.

“The future belongs to those who embrace innovation,” he said, adding that digital tools would be deployed to enhance operations and engagement.

He reaffirmed commitment to agriculture, mining and industrial development, stressing productivity, value addition and job creation.

Bada called for collective responsibility from members, noting that the success of the Chamber would depend on unity and active participation.

“This administration cannot succeed alone,” he said.
