Former Senator representing Ogun West, Sen. Tolu Odebiyi, has dismissed claims that he plans to contest for the Senate on the platform of the NDC, describing the reports as false, baseless and misleading.

In a statement issued on Friday, Odebiyi accused some individuals of using his name to promote the political party, insisting that he had never been a member of the NDC and had no intention of joining it.

“I’ve been made aware that some individuals are falsely using my name to promote their political party under the pretext that I intend to contest for the Senate on the platform of the NDC,” he said.

Describing the claim as “entirely false, baseless, and frankly insulting,” the former lawmaker maintained that his political loyalty had never been in doubt.

According to him, those familiar with his political history know that he does not defect from political parties, particularly from one with what he described as a progressive historical lineage in which his family played a significant role.

“Anyone who truly knows me understands that I do not switch political parties, especially not from a party that has historical progressive lineage and my family played a significant role in sustaining, particularly under the current administration,” Odebiyi stated.

The former senator further disclosed that he had previously received invitations to join several political parties, including the PDP, ADC and APM, but rejected every offer.

“On several occasions, I have been approached to join other political parties, including the PDP, ADC, and APM. On every occasion, I unequivocally rejected those overtures,” he said.

Odebiyi also warned the leadership, members and supporters of the NDC against associating his name with the party, stressing that he had never belonged to the political organisation.

“Accordingly, I hereby advise the Chairman of the NDC and all its members and supporters to immediately cease and desist from using my name or associating me with their party in any form. I have never been, and I am not, a member of the NDC,” he said.

Reaffirming his political allegiance, Odebiyi declared that he remains a loyal member of the APC and is committed to the party’s success in future elections.

“I remain a loyal and committed member of the APC, fully dedicated to the campaign and election of my brother as the next Governor of Ogun State, as well as the re-election of the President,” he added.
