The Ogun State Council of Baales and members of the Yayi Retirees Network have endorsed the governorship ambition of the All Progressives Congress candidate in the 2027 election, Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, saying his track record in community development and infrastructure convinced them to support his aspiration.

The endorsement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Media Adviser to the senator, Chief Kayode Odunaro, following separate consultative meetings held by the two groups at the H3 Event Centre in Abeokuta.

Chairman of the Ogun State Council of Baales, Chief Tunji Falola, said the traditional rulers’ endorsement was based on the senator’s record of service and commitment to grassroots development.

According to him, the decision was informed by Adeola’s “proven record of service, his demonstrated commitment to community development and our confidence in his vision for a greater Ogun State.”

Falola added that the senator had executed projects across the state, including roads, schools, hospitals, markets, town halls, streetlights, water schemes, electricity projects and empowerment programmes.

The communiqué issued by the Baales stated, “His record of service speaks for itself. Across Ogun West and indeed the twenty local government areas of the state today, Senator Yayi has delivered life changing projects including roads, schools, hospitals, markets, town halls, streetlights, water schemes, transformers, electricity projects and extensive empowerment programmes.”

The Baales’ chairman also pledged the support of the traditional institution for the APC candidate ahead of the governorship election.

“As Baales we don’t just follow any politician but we are in support of Senator Adeola for his good deeds in the society and good gestures towards us in the last four years. We are committed to ensure that he will not only win but win with massive votes that will surpass the highest winning votes of 450,000 previously recorded in Ogun State,” he said.

He, however, appealed to the senator to place Baales on a uniform salary structure and ensure they are accommodated in his administration if elected governor.

Also speaking, President of the Yayi Retirees Network, Pastor (Mrs.) Mary Adeosun, said the group, made up of retired public servants from the local, state and federal governments, endorsed Adeola because of his developmental projects across the state.

“As enlightened part of the society that had put in service for the state, we decided to come together to support Senator Adeola based on the projects he has implemented across Ogun State. Only a blind person will say he has not seen or benefited in one way or another from these projects,” she said.

Responding, Adeola thanked the Baales and the retirees for the endorsement, insisting that his relationship with traditional rulers predated his governorship ambition.

“I will immediately get a new bus for the Baales with a pledge to get one per LGA as requested in due course. I will also ensure the issue of uniform salary structure is addressed when I am elected governor,” the senator said.

Addressing the retirees, Adeola commended them for supporting his aspiration without prior solicitation.

“I cannot thank you enough for using your own resources just to support me based on your enlightened view and not any pecuniary consideration. I will look into the proposal you submitted to me and will ensure you are part of my government when elected to tap from your wealth of experiences,” he added.

The event was attended by the senator’s wife, Mrs Temitope Adeola, the APC deputy governorship candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, Minister of State for Health and Social Services, Dr Kunle Salako, and other party leaders.
