A Magistrate Court sitting in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, has directed the police to investigate Senator Francis Fadahunsi over an alleged comment calling for the killing of members of the Accord Party ahead of the August 15 Osun State governorship election.

The court, presided over by Magistrate II, Farida Ibrahim, directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 7, Abuja, to investigate the criminal complaint against the senator and submit its report within two weeks.

The directive was contained in a letter dated August 13, 2026, signed by the Registrar of the Magistrate Court, Abdulraham Yusuf.

The letter, titled, “Direct Criminal Complaint Between Pelumi Olajengbesi and Senator Francis Fadahunsi,” was issued pursuant to Section 89(5) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.

The court directed the police to investigate the complaint and take “necessary action.”

The complaint was filed by Pelumi Olajengbesi, campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, following a viral video in which Fadahunsi was allegedly heard making comments interpreted as encouraging violence against members and supporters of the Accord Party.

Olajengbesi had accused the senator of making statements capable of inciting violence ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The development came amid heightened political tension in Osun State, with rival political camps trading allegations and counter-allegations ahead of the poll.

In a related development, Olajengbesi’s lawyer, Hammed Lasisi, had in a letter dated August 12 demanded the immediate retraction of statements allegedly made by Fadahunsi during interviews on Viable TV on July 2 and Channels Television’s Politics Today on August 11.

According to the lawyer, Fadahunsi accused Olajengbesi of sponsoring thugs and members of the Eiye and Aye cult groups.

The lawyer quoted the senator as saying that Olajengbesi was “using thugs, Eiye and Aye,” while another alleged statement accused him of sponsoring an Eiye member identified as Rogba to terrorise the area.

Olajengbesi denied the allegations, describing them as false, defamatory and injurious to his reputation.

His lawyer stated that the allegation of sponsoring cultists and persons allegedly involved in acts of terror amounted to an accusation of criminality that was incompatible with his client’s reputation as a legal practitioner, public figure and candidate for elective office.

Olajengbesi also denied ever sponsoring, financing, supporting or patronising any cult group or its members for criminal or political activities.

He consequently demanded that Fadahunsi retract the alleged statements through the same media platforms where they were made and issue an “unequivocal and unreserved public apology.”

The lawyer gave the senator 24 hours to comply, threatening to commence legal proceedings seeking N10 billion in general and aggravated damages for defamation and injurious falsehood.
