Former Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, on his re-election for a second term in office.
Saraki, in a congratulatory message on Sunday, described Adeleke as his “dear brother and friend”, saying the governor’s victory reflected the clear verdict of the people of Osun State.
He said the electorate had four years to assess Adeleke’s performance, compare his promises with his achievements and decide whether he deserved another term.
“The people of Osun have spoken, and they have spoken clearly,” Saraki said.
According to him, there could be no greater vote of confidence for a leader than the freely expressed verdict of the people he serves.
Saraki also commended the people of Osun State for turning out to exercise their franchise and remaining vigilant in protecting their votes during the election.
He said the outcome was particularly significant at a time when concerns persisted over the strength and credibility of Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
“At a time when there are legitimate concerns about the strength and credibility of our democratic institutions, every election in which the will of the people is freely expressed, faithfully counted and ultimately respected is an important victory for our democracy,” he said.
The former Senate President urged Adeleke to use his renewed mandate to consolidate the achievements of his first term and deliver greater development to the people of the state.
He said the second term came with both the benefit and responsibility of a renewed mandate, urging the governor to justify the confidence reposed in him by the electorate.
Saraki wished Adeleke success in the next four years, expressing confidence that the governor would deepen the work already commenced and leave Osun State stronger and more prosperous.
“Congratulations, my brother,” he added.
