The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Ogun State, has declared that all three senatorial districts in the state are open to credible political aspirations ahead of the 2027 general elections, saying no district should be regarded as permanently entitled to, or excluded from, any political office.

The position was contained in a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary of IPAC Ogun State, Hon. Adeyemi S. O (ASO), following a strategic meeting of the council held under the leadership of its Chairman, Comrade Dr. Sanyaolu Abayomi.

The meeting, according to the statement, was aimed at strengthening unity, deepening inter-party cooperation and charting a responsible political direction for Ogun State ahead of the 2027 elections.

The council also used the meeting to welcome five newly admitted political parties into the IPAC family, describing their admission as a further strengthening of the council as an inclusive umbrella where every registered political party has a voice and the collective interest of Ogun State remains paramount.

IPAC said under the leadership of Abayomi, it remained committed to peaceful engagement, credible democracy, political inclusiveness and the protection of Ogun State’s democratic heritage.

The council said, “Political differences must never become a reason to undermine the peace, unity, and development of our dear state.”

As the 2027 elections approach, IPAC said it wanted to make its position clear that all senatorial districts and all parts of Ogun State remained open to credible political aspirations.

“No senatorial district should be treated as permanently entitled to, or permanently excluded from, any political office,” the council stated.

According to IPAC, competence, character, capacity, credibility, inclusiveness, proven commitment and genuine connection to Ogun State as a son or daughter of the soil should determine who earns the confidence of the people.

It added that the aspiration of any individual or group was legitimate, provided it was pursued within the democratic process.

“However, Ogun State must never become a political bargaining chip, nor should its collective destiny be reduced to the personal interest of any individual, party, group, or external interest,” IPAC said.

The council declared its support for what it described as inclusion rather than imposition, competence rather than entitlement, cooperation rather than domination, and democracy rather than political ownership.

IPAC said every senatorial district deserved a fair opportunity, while every credible son or daughter of Ogun State with the requisite competence, character and capacity should be allowed to offer themselves for public service.

“Ultimately, the people must have the freedom to decide through a credible, peaceful and transparent democratic process,” the council said.

The council said that as the political ship of Ogun State continued to sail towards 2027, it would remain determined to ensure that the process stayed firmly in the hands of the people and was steered towards peace, progress, justice, development and good governance.

“Wherever political interests may have temporarily steered the state, the time has come to return the political process to its rightful course and to the collective hands of the people,” IPAC stated.

The council warned that Ogun State must not be “sold, compromised, inherited or handed over as anyone’s political property.”

IPAC also welcomed the five newly admitted political parties and urged all political parties, leaders and stakeholders to embrace unity, discipline, mutual respect, tolerance and constructive engagement as they collectively prepare for the 2027 elections.

The council declared, “OGUN STATE BELONGS TO ALL OF US.

“ALL SENATORIAL DISTRICTS ARE OPEN.

“CREDIBILITY, COMPETENCE AND CHARACTER MUST COME FIRST.

“OUR SONS AND DAUGHTERS OF THE SOIL DESERVE A FAIR OPPORTUNITY.

“OGUN STATE IS NOT FOR SALE.

“OGUN STATE DESERVES THE BEST.

“OGUN’S DESTINY MUST REMAIN WITH THE PEOPLE.”

IPAC Ogun State concluded by expressing its commitment to democracy and the development of the state, declaring, “Long live IPAC Ogun State! Long live democracy! Long live Ogun State!”
