Female vice chairmen of local government areas in Ogun State have declared their support for the candidature of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency, Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The forum of female vice chairmen also presented campaign souvenirs to Adeleye as a demonstration of solidarity and confidence in her political experience, capacity and commitment to effective representation.
The presentation was made by the vice chairmen of Ifo, Ewekoro and Ipokia Local Government Areas, Hon. Bolanle Ojo, Alhaja Aliu Abisola and Hon. Olufunmilayo Okewole respectively.
Speaking on behalf of the forum, Abisola described the gesture as a modest expression of their support for Adeleye’s candidature, stressing the need for women in leadership to support and encourage one another.
She said the success of one woman in politics could create greater opportunities for others, adding that the forum would continue to promote unity, solidarity and collective participation among women across the state.
Responding, Adeleye expressed appreciation to the female vice chairmen for what she described as a meaningful demonstration of sisterhood and political solidarity.
According to her, the gesture went beyond the souvenirs presented, as it represented confidence, encouragement and a strong message that women were willing to stand together and create more space for women to contribute meaningfully to governance.
“When women support women, we are not just supporting an individual; we are strengthening the collective voice of women and advancing the cause of inclusive leadership,” Adeleye said.
The former Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development and former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Ogun State also called for greater unity among women across political and geographical divides.
She maintained that women’s participation in politics should go beyond token representation to active involvement in decision-making and leadership, urging women to continue supporting one another in their political aspirations.
