Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, and Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, have promised to deliver two million votes from Ogun State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The pledge was made at a mega rally organised by Caucus 7202, one of the support groups backing Adeola, at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Ogun State on Thursday.
Adeola, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State, said the state had benefited significantly from the infrastructure projects of the Tinubu administration under its Renewed Hope Agenda.
He cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road, Badagry-Sokoto Road and the ongoing total rehabilitation of the Sagamu-Benin Expressway as some of the federal projects benefiting Ogun State.
The senator urged residents to vote for all APC candidates, from the presidency to the state House of Assembly, warning supporters against what he described as opposition propaganda asking voters to support only his candidacy.
“Do not listen to them when they say vote for only Yayi in APC. I have no agenda with anyone. I appeal to you all to vote APC from top to bottom,” Adeola said.
He further promised to sustain and expand the projects and programmes he had initiated across the state if elected governor, adding that his administration would build on the achievements of Governor Abiodun.
Adeola also criticised the opposition over its internal crisis, urging voters not to support parties he said were unable to resolve their leadership and legal challenges.
Speaking at the event, Abiodun endorsed the two-million-vote target for Tinubu and described Adeola as a worthy successor, citing his political experience and understanding of governance.
“I want to thank Caucus 7202 for their massive mobilisation for APC and endorsement of our candidates towards the coming elections. We will carry you along in government,” the governor said.
Earlier, the Director-General of Caucus 7202, Hon. Olaseni Koiki, said the organisation comprised more than 1,000 support groups backing Adeola, with nearly 200,000 members.
Koiki said only about 10 per cent of the members were politicians, adding that the group was committed to supporting all APC candidates in Ogun State.
“We are wholly supporting all APC candidates from the President to Assembly members in Ogun State. Our members and their followers are for APC,” he said.
The rally was attended by the APC Deputy Governor candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa Balogun, and her husband, Hon. (Dr.) Abdulrasaq Balogun; Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi; Senators Lekan Mustapha and Akin Odunsi, as well as other APC chieftains.
