Human rights lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, has taken a swipe at Hon. Wole Oke, the Member representing Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, describing him as “one of the most character-deficient individuals” he has encountered in Nigeria’s political landscape.

In a strongly worded statement, Olajengbesi criticised the federal lawmaker for what he described as a relentless and selfish hunger for power, noting that Oke’s political journey has been devoid of substance and honour.

“He possesses an insatiable, uncontrollable and unquenchable appetite for power, carries himself with the delusion of a demigod, yet paradoxically grovels for honour,” Olajengbesi said.

The lawyer condemned Oke’s recent tantrums reportedly directed at political leaders in Oriade/Obokun, amid speculations that Governor Ademola Adeleke may be aligning with the All Progressives Congress, APC.

“Wole Oke is even boasting that people will come and bow to him. How I wish public officers in Nigeria had honour,” he added.

Olajengbesi accused the lawmaker, who recently resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the APC, of showing consistent disrespect towards his constituents despite spending twenty-four years in public office.

“He cannot lay claim to any verifiable achievement outside politics. He has made numerous attempts to mimic success, pretending to have built wealth from private ventures. But the truth remains — he has built nothing of substance outside the resources of public office,” Olajengbesi said.

He described Oke’s defection to the APC as purely self-serving, driven by the PDP’s decision to deny him another automatic ticket to the House of Representatives.

“Let it be clear. He didn’t defect out of alignment with Tinubu, Oyetola, or love for Nigeria. He moved because the PDP denied him yet another effortless four-year ride in the National Assembly,” he stated.

Taking a final jab, Olajengbesi warned the lawmaker, “That House of Representatives seat Wole Oke is addicted to cannot be forever. If I could help put you out of the PDP, the APC or any other party you flee to will not be hard. All it takes is a little more courage, and you’ll finally go through a proper primary election.”
