The Global Senior Pastor of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), Biodun Fatoyinbo, has tendered an apology to the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC) over comments that were perceived as disparaging to the family of the late Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, insisting that his words were misunderstood.

In a statement on Thursday, Fatoyinbo said his attention was drawn to a release by CAC addressing remarks credited to him regarding the revered pioneer of the church.

He expressed gratitude to the leadership of CAC for addressing the matter “in an exemplary Christian manner” and reaffirmed his respect for the late apostle’s ministry.

“The exploits of Apostle Joseph Ayo Babalola, which in the video I stated explicitly are too numerous to count, remain the hallmark of most Christian organizations in Nigeria and beyond till this very moment,” he said.

Fatoyinbo maintained that at no point during his sermon did he speak negatively about Babalola’s children, describing them as “shining examples of generational impact” and “good and present-day examples for children of visionaries to follow.”

He further noted that COZA is a “place of honor” and that he would never take lightly the grace over Babalola, his family, or ministry.

“I apologize if any other statement made by me has caused any form of distress, hurt, or discontentment to the CAC, the family of the late Apostle Babalola, or his associates,” he added.

Fatoyinbo prayed for the continued growth of CAC and the legacy of Apostle Babalola, expressing hope that his clarification would put the matter to rest.
