The Nigeria Police Force has promoted Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) and redeployed him as DCP Operations in Delta State.

The promotion and redeployment are part of routine administrative procedures aimed at strengthening operational leadership across the country.

According to police sources, the posting to Delta: a state regarded as one of Nigeria’s most operationally sensitive and security-challenged regions was strategic.

The Police Service Commission had earlier approved Adejobi’s elevation.

Senior officers dismissed claims that Adejobi’s redeployment was controversial, emphasizing that it was neither punitive nor political.

“The deployment of officers is a normal administrative procedure in the Nigeria Police Force. DCP Adejobi’s record of professionalism, commitment, and service excellence made him a natural fit for this crucial operational responsibility,” a source at Force Headquarters told our correspondent.

In his new role, DCP Adejobi will oversee tactical deployments, supervise field operations, and lead anti-crime strategies across Delta State.

His responsibilities include tackling violent crimes, curbing communal clashes, managing crisis responses, and fostering police-community relations.

Delta State has long faced complex security challenges including armed robbery, kidnapping, oil theft, and communal disputes.

Police sources said Adejobi’s experience in public communication, operational management, and community policing is expected to bring enhanced operational rigor and improved community trust.
