It was a moment of honour and recognition on Saturday, December 14, 2019, as the Publisher of Tropic Reporters, Adejola Adeyemi Crown, received the Excellence Award at the second edition of the Bikers Converge Indigenous and Brands Awards held at Conference Hotel, Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The convener of the annual event, Mr. Adeola Ogundimu, popularly known as Big Dee, explained that the Indigenous Awards was created out of the Abeokuta Bikers Converge at its fifth edition.
According to him, the award was designed to celebrate brands, goods, and services either owned by indigenes of Ogun State or situated within the state.
“We have seen in the past where people make their riches and fortunes from our dear country and take such to developed countries like Europe, Asia, America or even to the United Arab Emirates to invest, which deprives our citizens of employment,” Ogundimu said.
He added that despite economic challenges, some companies still choose to establish in Nigeria, creating jobs and supporting the growth of the economy.
The event climaxed with the presentation of an award to former Ogun State Governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, as the 2019 Biggest Employer of Labour in Ogun State through his newly commissioned Conference Hotel, Abeokuta.
Other awardees included Engr. Emmanuel Olabode Shekoni, CEO of Shekobod Nig. Limited, Fatgbems Petroleum Limited, Western Quarry Limited, Royal Butler, Metroeyes Clinic, and Wokcity Restaurants.
Special recognitions were also given to Mr. Clement Oladele, Ogun State FRSC Sector Commander, Bola Solate of Public Faces Magazine, and Adejola Adeyemi Crown, Publisher of Tropic Reporters.
Dignitaries at the colourful gathering included Hon. Kehinde Soaga, Nollywood actor Mr. Afeez Oyetoro (popularly known as Saka), alongside other prominent personalities. Guests were further entertained by comedian Koye and evergreen music from legendary Evangelist Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi.
