Enugu – A 51-year-old member of a neighbourhood security watch group, Emeka Emmanuel Nwangwu, has been remanded by an Enugu State Magistrate Court for the alleged murder of his 19-year-old cousin, Loveth Uloma Nwangwu, in Nsukka Local Government Area.
The suspect was arraigned on Wednesday following a police investigation ordered by the Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Bitrus Giwa.
SP Daniel Ndukwe, the Enugu State Police Command spokesman, confirmed that detectives of the State Criminal Investigation Department concluded the probe before the court proceedings.
“The suspect was arrested on December 1, 2025, after allegedly assaulting the deceased, resulting in injuries that proved fatal,” Ndukwe stated.
He added that the Commissioner of Police ensured the investigation was meticulous and that the case was promptly charged to court.
During the arraignment, the court ordered Nwangwu’s remand at the Enugu Correctional Centre and directed that the case file be forwarded to the Ministry of Justice for further review and legal advice.
CP Giwa expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and assured the public that justice was being served.
“Justice is already in motion, as the investigation has been concluded and the suspect has been arraigned and remanded accordingly,” he said.
This case comes a month after three men were remanded for their alleged involvement in the murder of two men during a violent attack in Mushin, Lagos State.
