Kano State has been thrown into mourning following the sudden death of two lawmakers in the State House of Assembly within the space of an hour on Wednesday.
Hon. Aminu Sa’adu, who represented Ungoggo Local Government Area constituency, was the first to pass away after suddenly falling ill shortly after arriving at the Assembly.
He was rushed to a hospital but could not be saved. His death sent immediate shockwaves across the state’s political circle.
Barely an hour later, Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, representing Kano Municipal Local Government Area constituency, also died.
His death was confirmed by Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson to the Kano State governor, via his Facebook page.
He wrote: “Innalillahi Wa Inna Ilaihirrajiun. Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, member representing Kano Municipal at Kano State House of Assembly, died today an hour after the death of his counterpart.”
Both lawmakers were known for their active participation in legislative duties and their contributions to the state.
Their sudden deaths have left colleagues, constituents, and observers in deep shock, with tributes and prayers flooding social media.
The Kano State government has yet to provide further details on the circumstances surrounding the sudden deaths of the two lawmakers.
