Former Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, has dismissed rumours suggesting he is leaving the All Progressives Congress for the African Democratic Congress, describing the claims as baseless and politically motivated.
The speculation is believed to have arisen from ongoing tensions within the Jigawa State APC, particularly between Badaru and his predecessor, Governor Umar Namadi. Sources indicate that some party members loyal to Badaru felt marginalised in government and party affairs, fueling talk of possible defections.
Speaking through his Media Aide, Mati Ali, Badaru said in a statement on Tuesday that he remains committed to the APC, a party he helped establish.
“I categorically state that the report is entirely false, unfounded, and a product of political mischief.”
“My loyalty to the party remains absolute and unwavering. I remain a dedicated member of the party and have no intention whatsoever of leaving the APC,” Badaru said.
