Nigeria’s Super Eagles will take on Algeria in the quarter-finals of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations after the North Africans edged DR Congo 1–0 in extra time during their round-of-16 clash in Rabat on Tuesday.
Substitute Anis Boulbina scored the decisive goal in the 119th minute, firing a powerful strike into the top corner after a tense game that ended goalless in regulation time.
Algeria had dominated possession for long periods, but DR Congo’s defence held firm until the dramatic finish.
The win sets up a high-stakes showdown on Saturday, January 10 at 5 pm, as Nigeria continues its pursuit of a fourth continental title following their 4–0 victory over Mozambique in the round of 16.
