The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has commenced a statewide electronic registration and re registration exercise aimed at expanding its membership base, strengthening internal cohesion, and positioning the party for future political engagements.
The exercise was formally flagged off on Tuesday by Governor Dapo Abiodun, who described the initiative as a strategic step towards deepening party participation and building a credible membership structure across the state.
The Governor was represented at the event by his Deputy, Engr. Mrs. Noimot Salako Oyedele.
According to Abiodun, the e registration process provides an opportunity for new members to join the party while enabling existing members to reaffirm their commitment through a transparent and technology driven system.
He said the initiative would ensure accuracy, eliminate manipulation, and align the party’s operations with global best practices.
“This exercise opens the door for genuine members and supporters to proudly identify with the APC. It is designed to eliminate fake or inflated figures and guarantee a reliable database for effective party organisation,” the Governor said.
He called on party leaders, stakeholders, and members at all levels to mobilise across wards and local governments to ensure mass participation, stressing that the success of the exercise depends on collective effort.
“This is a collective responsibility. Our leaders, ward executives, and field officers must work together to ensure a seamless, inclusive, and hitch free registration process,” he added.
In his remarks, the Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, urged party faithful to embrace the exercise as a unifying process meant to consolidate the party’s strength rather than a platform for personal interests.
“This registration is not about personal gain. It is about strengthening our party and positioning the APC for sustained leadership and electoral success,” Sanusi said.
He assured members that the party leadership would deploy additional registration centres and operators across the 236 wards of the state where necessary, to ensure that no genuine supporter or intending member is excluded due to time or logistical challenges.
The flag off ceremony also witnessed the electronic registration of key party leaders, including the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Dr. Toyin Taiwo.
Party members and supporters were encouraged to participate actively and mobilise others, as the APC intensifies efforts to build a stronger, more inclusive, and forward looking political family in Ogun State.
