Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to public service and grassroots-focused governance, following the conferment of an honorary doctorate degree in science.
Governor Adeleke was honoured at the 11th undergraduate and 7th postgraduate convocation ceremony of Adeleke University, Ede held on Sunday at its newly constructed stadium.
Speaking shortly after receiving the honorary award, Adeleke described the recognition as a challenge to do more, saying the strength behind his political journey and that of the Adeleke family remains rooted in God and the people of Osun.
“This award for me is coming at a critical juncture in the life of our government and that of the people of Osun State.”
“We have served the people diligently for almost three years now. Our administration has demonstrated that good governance is achievable with political will and deep interest of the people,” he said.
Governor Adeleke noted that the achievements of his government, which have drawn both local and international attention, are built on innovation, sacrifice, and a people-centred approach to leadership.
“Our deliverables which have surprised many observers within and outside the country are products of passionate urge to serve the people.”
“We innovate, we sacrifice and we think out of the box to positively transform several sectors of our society,” he said.
He added, “Our waking and sleeping agenda has been and will always be people’s welfare and aspirations of the people.”
Governor Adeleke acknowledged the overwhelming support of Osun residents, describing them as the driving force behind the administration’s success. He pledged not to relent in his mission to take the state to greater heights.
“Osun people have been our strength. They continue to be our strengths. As in every true democracy, the people are the ultimate determinant of power.”
“The power of voters to enthrone leaders through the ballot has been our greatest asset. We belong to the people and we acknowledge the love and the deep love from the street and every corner of Osun State,” he added.
He concluded by saying, “I will take this new recognition of our modest contributions to state development as a fresh endorsement to push hard on the path of service delivery. We will not waver in our passion to take Osun to the greatest height possible now and in the nearest future.”
The convocation ceremony was attended by the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Dr Adedeji Adeleke; the matriarch of the Adeleke family, Yeyeluwa Modupeola Adeleke-Sani; members of the Osun State Government; and the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adewale Egbedun, who served as the commencement speaker.
