Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of the Alaperu of Iperu-Remo, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo, describing it as an irreplaceable personal loss and a moment of profound grief for the Iperu-Remo kingdom.

As a prince of Iperu-Remo himself, Abiodun admitted that he was still struggling to come to terms with the monarch’s passing but acknowledged the supremacy of divine will.

“Even as I try to process this painful news, I submit to the immutable counsel of the Almighty God, whose decision on human life no mortal can question,” he stated.

Reflecting on the late monarch’s impact, Abiodun described him as a royal father, a trusted friend, and a confidante whose reign ushered in peace and prosperity not only to Iperu-Remo but also to Ogun State and Nigeria at large.

“I am devastated by the sudden passing of our highly distinguished, revered, and beloved Kabiyesi. His reign was marked by remarkable progress in infrastructure, economic development, and the strengthening of peace and harmony in our kingdom,” he said.

Paying tribute to the monarch’s illustrious academic and professional journey, Abiodun praised his commitment to excellence.

“To say the very least, Oba Adeleke Adelekan Idowu-Basibo was a paragon of excellence. From his early education at St. James Primary School to his A-level studies at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and his marine economics studies at University College London, he exemplified academic brilliance. His pursuit of knowledge extended to diploma programmes in importing and exporting at Yaba College of Technology, Lagos, and a PhD programme at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology.

“His distinguished career at the Customs Service in Europe, spanning two decades, was a testament to his dedication and competence,” Abiodun added.

The governor further described the late monarch as a man of grace and dignity who remained committed to the welfare of his people, regardless of their creed or political affiliation.

“He was a leader who carried himself with remarkable dignity and was always devoted to the well-being of his people. His absence leaves a deep void, and he will be sorely missed,” he concluded.
