The full list of nominees for the 2025 Women’s Ballon d’Or has been unveiled, drawing attention to a mix of African talents and global football icons who have stood out over the past season.
The prestigious list, released on Wednesday, features 30 outstanding female players from various leagues and continents. Among them are notable African stars such as Barbra Banda of Zambia and Temwa Chawinga of Malawi, as well as Haitian forward Melchie Dumornay, who has continued to shine on the global stage.
The nomination of these players marks a significant recognition of talent emerging from regions often underrepresented in global football awards.
From Europe and beyond, familiar names such as Aitana Bonmati, Alexia Putellas, Lucy Bronze, Pernille Harder, and Caroline Graham Hansen also earned their places on the list, celebrating their impressive contributions to club and country.
Others nominated include England’s Chloe Kelly and Leah Williamson, Claudia Pina of Spain, Brazil’s veteran star Marta, Frida Leonardsen-Maanum of Norway, and Esther Gonzalez.
The Ballon d’Or continues to serve as a beacon of recognition for excellence, honouring players whose performances, consistency, and impact have shaped women’s football.
The final winner will be announced at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony later this year in France.
