The Rotary Club of Rock City, Abeokuta, on Friday, July 25, 2025, marked its Charter Day celebration with a compassionate gesture towards the less privileged, focusing on the welfare of mothers and children.
As part of its Maternal and Child Health project, the club organized a community outreach at the Comprehensive Health Center, Oke Ilewo, Abeokuta.
The event featured health education sessions and the donation of essential items to indigent mothers.
The President of the Rotary Club, Rtn. (Dr.) Moses Olanrewaju, while addressing attendees, described the initiative as a dual-purpose event aimed at giving back to society while commemorating the club’s founding.
“We chose to celebrate our Charter Day not with fanfare, but by extending care and knowledge to mothers who truly need it. This is the essence of Rotary — serving humanity in meaningful ways,” he said.
Health professionals at the outreach provided talks on topics such as safe motherhood, newborn care, and proper nutrition for infants. The mothers in attendance also received baby care packages and hygiene items, courtesy of the club.
The Rotary Club assured that more community-driven programs are underway as part of its year-round humanitarian commitments.
