The College of Diplomatic Studies and International Relations (CDSIR) in Abuja has honoured 24 distinguished Nigerians, including renowned security expert and peace advocate, Otunba Adejare Rewane Adegbenro, for their outstanding contributions to peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

The event, which also marked the college’s second graduation ceremony, saw the induction of the honourees as fellows of the institution. It equally witnessed the graduation of 16 students trained in diplomacy, international relations, and conflict resolution.

In his remarks, Otunba Adegbenro commended the college for aligning its vision with the peace-building agenda of Tinubu’s administration.

He pledged to sponsor more Nigerians to undertake diplomatic studies, stressing that developing human capacity in diplomacy is critical to fostering national unity and security.

Chairman of the ceremony and Olowu of Owu, Oba Saka Matemilola, emphasised the role of diplomacy in driving peace and political stability.

He urged Nigerians to embrace diplomatic values in resolving conflicts and achieving national cohesion.

Representing the Ministry of Justice, the Solicitor-General and Permanent Secretary reiterated that diplomacy goes beyond formal dialogue, noting that peaceful conflict resolution demands empathy, commitment, and proactive engagement from all stakeholders.

The college also recognised former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, the Olowu of Owu, and Christie Ada Sam-Ode, wife of the Deputy Governor of Benue State, for their exemplary roles in promoting diplomacy, leadership, and national development.
