The Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation has honoured the immediate past State Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Ogun State, Assistant Commander General of Narcotics (ACGN) Ibiba Jane Odili (Rtd), in recognition of her exceptional service and unwavering commitment to public safety and drug control.

At a grand investiture ceremony held on Thursday in Lagos, the foundation appointed her as Senior Special Adviser on Drug Demand and Supply Reduction Strategies. The event also served as a celebration of her retirement from the NDLEA and decades of impactful service to the nation.

Hosted at Primal Tek Plaza, opposite Gowon Estate Market, the ceremony was organised in collaboration with the Phenomenal Strides Foundation and witnessed a gathering of respected dignitaries, including senior NDLEA officials, Lions Club leaders, and other well-wishers.

Welcoming her into the foundation, the Global President, Alhaji Aare Asiwaju Dapo Wahab JP, described ACGN Ibiba Odili as a rare gem whose legacy in public service stands tall.

In his words, “Ibiba Jane Odili is not just a former commander. She is a symbol of discipline, courage, and compassion. Her years of service at the NDLEA were not just about enforcing laws but about building lives and securing futures. Today, we are not just honouring her — we are partnering with a woman of immense value, experience, and wisdom.”

He continued, “At the Asiwaju Dapo Wahab Foundation, we believe in rewarding integrity and drawing from the wealth of experience of those who have served this nation diligently. Her new role is not ceremonial. We look forward to tapping into her vast knowledge in our efforts to reduce drug abuse and dependency in our communities.”

Responding to the honour, Ibiba Odili expressed her heartfelt appreciation to the foundation for the recognition and warm reception. “This honour is deeply humbling. I accept this responsibility with a sincere heart and full dedication. I pledge to support the foundation’s mission to the best of my ability and work with every resource available to build a society free of drug abuse,” she said.

Odili’s track record at the NDLEA earned her nationwide admiration, especially her time as State Commander in Ogun, where she led reforms that redefined the command’s operational standards.

She also played a strategic role in the implementation of the National Drug Control Master Plan (NDCMP), a comprehensive national framework for tackling substance abuse.

Guests at the event poured out emotional tributes, describing her as a woman of steel and integrity who brought honour to law enforcement. Her appointment, many believe, marks a new chapter in community-based drug prevention efforts.
