Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have arrested seven suspected internet fraudsters during a sting operation carried out on Thursday, in Abuja.
The suspects were picked up from the Lifecamp and Kubwa areas of the Federal Capital Territory following credible intelligence linking them to alleged cybercrime-related activities.
According to the EFCC, the operation led to the recovery of several luxury items, including eight high-end cars, sophisticated laptops, and expensive mobile phones believed to be proceeds of fraudulent activities.
“The suspects were tracked and arrested based on actionable intelligence pointing to their involvement in internet-related fraud. Investigations are currently ongoing,” a source at the Commission stated.
The anti-graft agency also disclosed that the suspects will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
The EFCC reaffirmed its commitment to clamping down on cybercrime and bringing perpetrators to justice in line with its mandate to protect Nigeria’s economic integrity.
