In a move to reinforce Nigeria’s tax dispute resolution system, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has sworn in 50 new commissioners for the Tax Appeal Tribunal.

Presiding over the inauguration ceremony, Edun emphasized that the appointments were a testament to the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring a fair and effective tax system.

He urged the commissioners to uphold equity, transparency, and dedication in their roles.

In a statement released by Godwin Oritshe, the media aide to newly appointed commissioner Okide Ezigbo, Edun reiterated that the new appointees were carefully selected to enhance tax adjudication and fiscal justice.

Reacting to his appointment, Ezigbo pledged to maintain transparency and accountability, adding that he was committed to “ensuring justice and efficiency in tax dispute resolutions.”

The Tax Appeal Tribunal, established under Section 59 of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, is responsible for adjudicating tax-related disputes in Nigeria.

Ezigbo, a seasoned legal expert from Anambra State, brings over 22 years of experience in the legal profession. He previously worked at Funke Adekoya SAN Chambers in Yaba and Aelex Law Firm in Ikoyi.
