Five persons sustained varying degrees of injury on Tuesday, January 28, following an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge at the University of Lagos Waterfront, inward Adeniji.
The crash involved a commercial bus and a Toyota Highlander, according to a statement released by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) via its X (formerly Twitter) handle.
The statement reads: “An accident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge at Unilag Waterfront inward Adeniji and it involved a commercial bus and a Toyota Highlander.
“There are 5 casualties (injured persons) involved and have been swiftly rescued by LASTMA officials and other good Samaritans.
“Recovery of the affected vehicles is also expected to be done now.
“Let’s always drive cautiously and maintain within the speed limit. Checking car conditions before home should also be a priority.”
LASTMA confirmed that the injured victims were promptly attended to with the assistance of good Samaritans at the scene. The agency further assured the public that recovery efforts for the damaged vehicles were underway to restore free flow of traffic.
Motorists are urged to always prioritize safety by adhering to speed limits and ensuring their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any journey.
