The Ijebu Ode Local Government has announced a seven-day Oro curfew across the entire council area, beginning on Wednesday, July 30, and running through Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

In a public announcement signed by the Chairman, Hon. Dare Alebiosu, residents were informed that the curfew will be in effect daily from 12:00 midnight to 4:00 a.m. throughout the one-week period.

The restriction, according to the statement, is to allow the peaceful observance of traditional Oro rites.

“All movement is strictly prohibited during the curfew hours. We urge residents to remain indoors and cooperate fully with this directive,” Alebiosu said.

The council appealed to all members of the public, particularly non-indigenes and visitors, to respect the customs of the land and comply with the restriction in order to maintain peace and public order.

The statement further emphasized that the directive was in the interest of safety and cultural respect, urging the public to take the announcement seriously and avoid unnecessary outings during the stated hours.
