The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, has once again restated his personal prophecy of a peaceful death, saying he would pass away on a Sunday after church service, shortly after eating his beloved pounded yam.

Speaking during the fourth day of the church’s ongoing International Convention themed “The Overcomers”, the revered cleric told the congregation that death for true believers does not have to come through suffering or prolonged illness.

“I will die on a Sunday after attending service, eat my beloved pounded yam, and then pass on without any sickness,” Adeboye said.

According to him, he had shared the same vision two years ago and felt led to repeat it, not to stir fear, but to offer reassurance that death, for those in Christ, can be peaceful and glorious.

Delivering a sermon titled “Possess Your Possessions”, the 82-year-old spiritual leader urged Christians to take a stand in claiming their rights in Christ, warning that blessings such as healing, wealth, fruitfulness, and long life must often be spiritually fought for.

“In many cases, you may have to fight for things that are already yours,” he said, referencing the biblical example of the Israelites who had to conquer enemies before entering the Promised Land.

He stressed that although Christ has paid the full price for believers to live in abundance and health, there are forces working daily to steal, kill, and destroy those blessings.

“Your greatest friend, Jesus Christ, paid a great price to purchase your healing. Yet there is a thief who comes to steal, kill, and destroy,” he said, quoting John 10:10.

“Long life is yours, but the devil wants to kill you with all he has. You must fight to live,” he declared.

He also addressed the criticism that often trails successful Christians, saying, “If you make it as a Christian, they criticise you. If you die poor, they say, ‘Where is your God?’”

Citing the biblical stories of Rachel and Hannah, Pastor Adeboye encouraged Christians not to accept barrenness or any form of misfortune, saying they must persist in prayer and faith.

“It is what we tolerate that disturbs us. Stop tolerating oppression. Fight to possess your possessions, it’s your spiritual duty, made possible by Christ’s sacrifice,” he concluded.

The RCCG International Convention continues at the Redemption Camp with thousands of worshippers in attendance from Nigeria and across the globe.
