The Onikosi of Osi Otta, Oba Sikiru Ishola Anibire, has passed away, the Onikosi-in-Council announced on Tuesday, March 19, 2025.

In line with tradition, a delegation from the council delivered the solemn message to His Majesty, Professor Adeyemi Abdukabir Obalanlege, the Olota of Ottaland, at Ipeti Royal Square, where the Balogun of Otta, High Chief Isiaka Idowu Balogun, received them on behalf of the Olota.

Confirming the development, a statement signed by Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi, on behalf of the Olota’s palace, described the late monarch as a visionary leader who championed progress and unity throughout his reign.

“Kabiyesi Onikosi was a custodian of our rich heritage and a pillar of development in Osi Otta and Ottaland. His dedication to his people will always be remembered,” the statement read.

In honor of the late monarch, burial rites are set to commence immediately, with all commercial activities in Osi Quarters suspended from 10:00 PM tonight until 8:00 AM on Friday, March 22, 2025.

Furthermore, the statement announced that vehicular and pedestrian movement along Osi would be restricted between 12:00 AM and 3:00 AM on March 19, 2025, to allow for traditional rites.

The palace prayed for Eledumare to grant the departed king eternal rest and give his family and the people of Osi Otta the strength to bear the loss.
