The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Kano Strategic Command, has arrested 49 suspects in a coordinated two-day operation targeting notorious drug hotspots across the state.

Public Relations Officer of the Command, Sadiq Muhammad Maigatari, said in a statement that the raids, carried out on August 7 and 8, led to the seizure of cannabis sativa, Pregabalin, diazepam, codeine syrup, Rohypnol, “Suck and Die,” rubber solution, as well as locally made weapons.

According to the NDLEA, the crackdown focused on areas notorious for drug peddling, including Massallacin Idi, Fagge Plaza, Kofar Mata, Kofar Wambai, Kofar Dan’agundi, Makabartar Dan’agundi, Ladanai, Zage, and Tashar Rimi at Rimi Market.

Additional raids at Kano Line Motor Park and Tashar Rami Motor Park in Na’ibawa resulted in the arrest of 15 suspects.
Maigatari noted, “Since the elevation of the NDLEA’s operations to a strategic command level, there has been a notable increase in the effectiveness and scope of our efforts to combat drug-related crimes.”

The Commander of the Kano Strategic Command, Assistant Comptroller General of Narcotics (ACGN) A.I. Ahmad, said the operation was part of ongoing measures to dismantle drug joints and disrupt the activities of known traffickers.
