Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has reaffirmed his administration’s unwavering commitment to resolving the lingering local government dispute through lawful and peaceful means, following the recent ruling of the Court of Appeal in favour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement released on Sunday by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor congratulated the people of Osun for standing firm with the rule of law and hailed the court’s verdict as a reaffirmation of the legitimacy of the duly elected PDP chairmen and councillors.

The Court of Appeal ruling put to rest the controversy surrounding the local council leadership in Osun, upholding the legality of the PDP-led local government officials and nullifying claims of reinstatement of the previously sacked chairmen.

“Unlike the opposition, we are people of due process. The latest judgement is being served on all relevant stakeholders at state and national level. Our expectation is a quick restoration of normalcy in line with the law,” the governor said.

Governor Adeleke expressed appreciation to the PDP chairmen and councillors across the 30 local government areas and area councils for their patience and commitment to peace since their swearing-in. He said their restraint and support for legal processes had now been vindicated.

“I appreciate the deep love for peace and unity as demonstrated by the PDP Chairmen and councillors. Your patience and support for the law has paid off,” Adeleke added.

The governor also extended gratitude to the security agencies for upholding peace and law in the state, urging them to remain vigilant against attempts to destabilize the state through false narratives or provocative actions.

“Evil plots against our dear state on all fronts have been foiled. We must continue to remain peaceful and never allow agents of violence and enemies of the people to drag the state into violence and backwardness,” he warned.

Adeleke assured the people of Osun that his government will continue to defend democracy, uphold constitutionalism, and ensure that the will of the people remains supreme at all levels of governance.
