The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Osun State Command, has arrested and prosecuted three individuals for vandalizing water pipes belonging to the Osun State Water Corporation.
According to a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASC Kehinde Adeleke, the suspects—Michael Odeniran, 43; Ganiyu Mutiu Olalekan, 32; and Muritala Ridwan, 32—were apprehended on April 10, 2025, at about 11:00 a.m. at the Oloki Reservoir Site via Akoda, along the Gbongan-Osogbo road.
Commandant Sotiyo disclosed that, “Discreet investigation revealed that the suspects, who are laterite miners, damaged a 450mm pipe while mining laterite.”
He added that following their arrest, the trio was arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Ede on April 14, 2025. They pleaded not guilty to the charges and have since been remanded at the Ife Correctional Centre pending further legal proceedings.
The Commandant issued a stern warning to individuals involved in the vandalism of government infrastructure.
“Let this serve as a strong warning to anyone sabotaging public infrastructure. NSCDC remains committed to protecting Critical National Assets and Infrastructure, and anyone found culpable will be brought to justice,” he emphasized.
