The Ogun State House of Assembly has screened nominees appointed into various statutory commissions by Governor Dapo Abiodun, with a strong call for innovation and commitment to effective public service delivery across the state.
Presiding over the screening exercise held at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, charged the nominees to “develop strategies that will not only add value but also transform the fortunes of the commissions in line with modern public service expectations.”
The nominees were drawn from the House of Assembly Service Commission, Local Government Service Commission, Teaching Service Commission, and the Judicial Service Commission.
While addressing the nominees, Speaker Elemide emphasized the importance of their experiences in shaping the efficiency of the state’s governance structures.
“The Assembly expects you to bring your wealth of experience to bear and align your roles with the ISEYA development mantra of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration,” he stated.
He commended the Governor for selecting individuals with proven records, including former lawmakers, local government officials, and seasoned professionals. “This blend of experienced individuals reflects the administration’s commitment to purposeful governance,” Elemide noted.
He further urged them to “ensure sustained synergy between the statutory commissions and the State Legislature” and to develop policies that would “reposition the public service for optimum performance.”
Responding during the session, the nominees gave brief overviews of their professional backgrounds and expressed readiness to serve. One of the nominees remarked, “We are committed to discharging our responsibilities with integrity, loyalty, and sincerity of purpose.”
Another added, “We consider this a call to duty, and we pledge to contribute our quota in line with the vision of the State Government.”
It will be recalled that Governor Dapo Abiodun had previously transmitted the list of appointees to the House for confirmation.
The confirmed nominees are as follows:
Local Government Service Commission: Olubukunola Olivia Onabanjo (Chairman); Hon. Lukman Olufemi Adiro, Martins Adekoyejo Ijaduoye, Olatunde Azeez Abiodun Osunbiyi, and Olatunde Rasaki Rufai (Members).
Teaching Service Commission: Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu (Chairman); Olanrewaju Majekodunmi, Deola Akintonde, Hon. Adeleke Salmon (Sonto), Hon. (Mrs.) Atinuke Bello, and Hon. Kemi Oduwole (Members).
House of Assembly Service Commission: Rt. Hon. Suraj Ishola Adekunbi (Chairman); Samuel Ibidapo Odukoya, Alhaji Fasiu Ajadi, and Hon. Folakemi J. Akintayo (Members).
Judicial Service Commission: Hon. Justice M. A. Dipeolu (Chairman); Hon. Justice Femi-Segun A. Olusola, Mr. Olusina Ogungbade, SAN Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, Dr. Saheed Oyede, and Adesola Ayoola-Elegbeji (Members).
