Receiving the award on behalf of Governor Abiodun, Senator Shuaib Salisu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Cyber Security, commended the governor for his vision in embracing digital transformation.

“Governor Abiodun understands the significance of the Fourth Industrial Revolution in career advancement. This has driven his commitment to digitalizing Ogun State, positioning it as a leader in technology-driven governance,” Salisu stated.

He emphasized that Ogun State has gained both local and international recognition for its free tech empowerment programs and training at the Ogun Tech Hub, which support young innovators, startups, and technology entrepreneurs.

Salisu, who was also honored with the ICT Policy and Cyber Security Advocacy Excellence Award, stressed the need for individuals, organizations, and government agencies to embrace digitalization.

“In today’s world, digital transformation is no longer optional. Ogun State has demonstrated how technology can enhance service delivery, and we will continue to explore more opportunities to support innovation,” he added.

Also speaking at the event, Special Adviser on ICT to the Ogun State Governor, Mr. Dayo Abiodun, expressed appreciation to Babcock University for recognizing Governor Abiodun’s contributions.

This honor will further encourage the governor and the state government to intensify advocacy on digital economy and cybersecurity,” he remarked.

Represented by Olatundun Adekunte, Director of Standard Regulations, Planning, and Research at the Ogun State Bureau of Information Technology (BIT), Mr. Abiodun highlighted several digitalization initiatives by the state government. These include the development of education web portals, land administration platforms, and digital tax remittance systems to improve governance efficiency.

Presenting the awards, Prof. Oludele Awodele, Director of Academic Planning at Babcock University, lauded Governor Abiodun’s dedication to expanding digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness in Ogun State.

“This award is a recognition of his relentless pursuit of a technologically advanced Ogun State where digital skills and cyber resilience are prioritized,” Awodele stated.
