The Ogun State Police Command says it has deployed an adequate number of personnel for the Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal Constituency Bye-Election scheduled for Saturday, August 16, 2025.
Speaking at the Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, during a briefing for officers on election duty, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, stressed the need for professionalism, civility, and neutrality while discharging duties.
According to him, the Command, working with other security agencies and receiving additional manpower from Zone 2 Command in Lagos, has put in place “robust security measures to prevent election-related violence and ensure a safe environment before, during, and after the election.”
The Police Commissioner urged voters to strictly obey electoral laws, warning that acts such as campaigning, vote-buying, distributing flyers, or displaying political stickers at polling areas are prohibited.
Movement in the areas where the election will hold will be restricted from 12:00 am to 4:00 pm on election day. Police patrol vehicles, stop-and-search teams, and other operational units will be strategically deployed to guarantee a smooth and hitch-free process.
The Command appealed for public cooperation and warned individuals with malicious intentions to stay away from polling units. “Any attempt to disrupt the process will be met with decisive action,” the police stated.
