As part of efforts to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the local government elections, Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has ordered a restriction of vehicular movement from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2025.
In a statement signed by his spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, the governor said the decision was taken to prevent the infiltration of hoodlums and safeguard the electoral process.
“The restriction is necessary to protect the integrity of the elections and ensure that Osun people can exercise their democratic rights without fear or intimidation,” the statement read.
Governor Adeleke emphasized his administration’s commitment to security and urged residents to comply with the directive.
“We are taking every necessary step to guarantee a hitch-free election. Security agencies have been directed to enforce this restriction while allowing only voters, accredited journalists, and civil society observers to move freely,” he added.
