The Chief Executive Officer of Tido Tech International, Professor Olugbemiga Adekunmi Olatidoye, a distinguished member of the 68/72 set of African Church Grammar School (AFROGRAMS), Ita Iyalode, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has given back to his alma mater in a grand gesture to mark his 70th birthday.

During an event held on Wednesday, Prof. Olatidoye awarded a monetary prize of $100 to students who correctly answered questions on artificial intelligence (AI).

Recognizing the financial struggles of some students, he also pledged ₦1 million to cover the NECO fees of 30 students, ensuring they could continue their education without hindrance.

“It’s always good to give back to your alma mater, and one of my motivations is to help the young ones.”

“Rather than complaining, it’s better to take action and support the next generation,” Prof. Olatidoye stated.

As part of his contributions, he also donated a 3D machine to the school and promised to introduce students to robotics, drones, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity to prepare them for the evolving digital landscape.

The initiative was carried out in partnership with Solace Foundation, a non-governmental organization founded by the Queen of Owu Kingdom, Olori Ameenah Adeleye Matemilola, to further enhance educational opportunities for students.

The Olowu of Owu Kingdom, Oba Professor Saka Adelola Matemilola, who was represented at the event by the Orunto of Owu Kingdom, Chief Abiodun Lasile, commended Prof. Olatidoye for his generosity.

“The Owu Kingdom stands behind individuals who are ready to give back to society, especially within the educational sector,” Chief Lasile affirmed.

He urged the students to take inspiration from the gesture, stating, “The old students have laid a foundation, and you have no excuse not to become whatever you aspire to be.”

A reading advocate himself, Chief Lasile further emphasized the importance of literacy, adding, “Reading is more than an art; it is a way of life.”

In addition to the AI-related donations, the event also saw the presentation of renewable energy and sustainability activity booklets, titled Going Green Tips, to the students, promoting environmental awareness.

Speaking at the event, the Principal of AFROGRAMS Senior, Adebanjo Matilda Abisola, described Prof. Olatidoye’s contributions as remarkable.

“Paying the NECO fees for 30 students is a laudable initiative, and we deeply appreciate this kind gesture.”

“I also want to urge other old students to return to their roots and support the school and its students,” she said.

On behalf of the students, Assistant Head Boy, Alex Monday, expressed heartfelt gratitude, acknowledging the impact of the donation and support received.
