The Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps (So-Safe Corps) has trained 600 of its senior officers in a two-day capacity-building programme aimed at improving operational efficiency and security service delivery.

The training, which took place on Monday and Tuesday, brought together officers from different zones of the corps and was facilitated by seasoned security and administrative experts.

Speaking at the event, the Commander of So-Safe Corps, Dr. Soji Ganzallo, said the programme was part of the corps’ commitment to building a more skilled and professional workforce.

He stressed the importance of continuous learning in tackling emerging security challenges.

“This training is to equip our officers with modern techniques and strategies needed to effectively safeguard lives and property in Ogun State.”

“We will continue to work in close collaboration with other security agencies to ensure the state remains safe for all,” Ganzallo said.

He announced that the training would be held annually to keep officers up to date with best practices in community security management.

Ganzallo also revealed plans to introduce an Inter-Zonal Football Competition for officers of the corps, tagged the “Ganzallo Cup,” which he would personally sponsor.

According to him, other competitions would follow in subsequent months as part of efforts to promote unity and camaraderie within the corps.

Delivering his lecture, Retired Security Expert, Mr. Saliu Olorode, commended the initiative of the So-Safe Corps, describing it as a forward-thinking approach to tackling crime.

“Regular training sharpens skills and boosts confidence. The more prepared your officers are, the more effective they will be in protecting communities,” Olorode noted.

Also speaking, Mr. Bolaji Bakare, Director of Admin, Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority, Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, urged participants to imbibe discipline, integrity and professionalism in their daily operations.

“The public looks up to you for safety. Every action you take must reflect trustworthiness and commitment to service,” he said.

The event ended with a renewed pledge by officers to apply the knowledge gained in the course of their duties and a reaffirmation by the commander that the So-Safe Corps would remain proactive in safeguarding Ogun State.
