Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 11 suspected hoodlums in connection with a violent attack on residents in Mariri, Kumbotso local government area.
The suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Wednesday, November 26, 2025, around 1:00 a.m., after reportedly unleashing attacks following a local traditional festival in the area.
According to SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the suspects were armed with dangerous local weapons and attacked people indiscriminately, dispossessing them of their belongings.
He said, “Armed with dangerous local weapons, the gang was on rampage after attending a local traditional festival in the area attacking everybody on sight, dispossessing them of their belongings. They had also stormed a nearby civil defence outpost in Mariri, attacked and left a staff fractured in the office.”
The suspects were identified as Idris Muhd (20), Abubakar Shuaibu (24), Sagiru Hassan Yusuf (25), Idris Muhammad Morata (25), Anas Rabiu (23), Yahaya Muhd Yahaya (29), Khalid Idris (28), Mohd Adamu (19), Muktar Auwal Muktar (22), Salim Muktar (18), and Saifullahi Nuhu (18). Six cutlasses and a pair of scissors were recovered from them during the operation.
The NSCDC’s Intelligence and Investigation Department has concluded preliminary investigations and is making arrangements to charge the suspects to court.
Kano State Commandant Mohammed Hassan Agalama reiterated the Corps’ commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.
