The national chairman of Accord Party, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, has expressed confidence that Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke will defeat all contenders in the governorship election scheduled for next year.

Mgbudem made the declaration during a world press conference at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.

He cited Governor Adeleke’s popularity, performance in office, and widespread acceptance among the people as key factors that would secure his victory.

“The acceptance of Governor Ademola Adeleke in Osun State is unparalleled. The reception he received when we welcomed him to Accord was deafening and clearly showed that His Excellency has already won. I can tell you without an iota of doubt that Adeleke will be sworn in after the election,” Mgbudem stated.

He further noted that even when the Federal Government withheld local government allocations, Adeleke ensured that salaries were paid, reflecting his commitment to good governance.

Addressing claims of internal divisions, Mgbudem dismissed reports of a faction within the party, describing such claims as the handiwork of “anti-democratic elements” seeking publicity and personal gain.

“The national leadership of Accord convened this press conference to clarify false information spread by our expelled 2023 presidential candidate, Professor Christopher Imumolen. Accord is the most peaceful, united, and fastest-growing party in Nigeria today. We remain focused on the upcoming elections in Osun, Ekiti, and the FCT, and will not be distracted by frivolities,” he added.

Mgbudem also highlighted the national appeal Adeleke has brought to the party. “Since Governor Adeleke joined Accord, thousands of Nigerians have identified with the party across the country. His influence and popularity have placed Accord at the forefront of the democratic process,” he said.

The Accord chairman reiterated that the party remains committed to democratic values, internal democracy, and the pursuit of a people-centered governance agenda.
