The All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed the newly unveiled African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition, describing it as a gathering of selfish politicians driven by personal ambition and desperation for power.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka, the ruling party said the ADC platform, which was unveiled in Abuja on Wednesday, is nothing but “a coalition of hoaxers and self-obsessed merchants of vendetta.”
Morka accused leaders of the coalition, including Senator David Mark, of promoting their personal interests while pretending to speak for Nigerians.
“It was an unveiling of a coalition of hoaxers and self-obsessed merchants of vendetta. A roll call of Nigeria’s me-or-nothing politicians, who equate their selfish interest with the interest of Nigerians, who cannot bear to be out of the corridors of power and patronage,” Morka said.
According to him, the ADC coalition lacks clear ideology, vision, or alternative policy direction, adding that the only driving force behind the alliance is a desperation to seize power.
He described the speech delivered by Senator Mark during the unveiling as empty and filled with falsehoods, baseless allegations, and personal attacks on President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
“From beginning to end, Senator Mark said nothing about the purpose of the so-called coalition other than a loud declaration of desperation for power,” Morka stated.
The APC spokesperson argued that the opposition elements behind the ADC coalition have failed to recognise the achievements of the current administration, including ongoing economic reforms, growth in external reserves, improved trade surplus, and declining inflation.
He maintained that the Tinubu-led government remains committed to delivering infrastructure, social investment programmes, student loans, stable academic calendars, and improved security.
“While coalition members remain preoccupied swimming in mud and throwing bricks, our great Party and President Tinubu remain undisturbed and focused on using all available bricks to build a stronger, enduring and more prosperous nation,” the statement added.
Morka insisted that Nigerians are “highly perceptive and discerning” and would not be deceived by politicians whose only interest is to return to power for selfish reasons.
The ADC coalition was unveiled on Wednesday as an opposition platform aimed at providing an alternative to the APC government.
