The Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed speculations surrounding the party’s 2027 governorship ticket, maintaining that its focus remains on supporting Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration and its developmental projects.
Reacting to a report alleging that party stakeholders had endorsed Senator Ibikunle Amosun for the next election, APC’s State Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye, described the claim as misleading and capable of causing unnecessary political tension.
“Since this morning, I have been inundated with inquiries regarding a publication by one national newspaper (name withheld), which claimed that ‘2027: Ogun APC Stakeholders Opt For Amosun’s Candidacy.’ While the headline may be catchy, it is misleading and has fueled speculations among party members,” Oladunjoye stated.
He clarified that no discussions have been held regarding the 2027 governorship ticket, emphasizing that the party’s priority remains the execution of Governor Abiodun’s legacy projects.
“For the avoidance of doubt and with all sense of responsibility, the issue of the candidacy for the 2027 governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not on the table of the party and its leaders for now.
“Our primary focus is to support our performing governor and leader of the party in the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in executing his unfolding legacy projects, which will certainly boost the standing of our party at the next general elections,” he added.
Oladunjoye also warned against misinformation that could destabilize the party, stressing that members should be wary of fueling unnecessary political debates.
“While members have the right to project their preferred aspirants, we must be wary of misinformation that may heat up the polity and create needless rumors and rancor. It is needless to remind members that the party has an established structure and procedure to apply disciplinary measures where necessary,” he stated.
He reaffirmed that the party remains united behind Governor Abiodun’s administration and urged stakeholders to focus on governance rather than premature political debates.
